Shaun White Pulls Out Of Slopestyle Event, Gets Trashtalked By Canadians

Shaun White Pulls Out Of Slopestyle Event

U.S. snowboarding star Shaun White announced on Wednesday that he would be pulling out of the snowboarding slopestyle event citing the dangerous course and risk of injury.

The response from White's Canadian rivals could be summed up in one phrase: bock, bock, bock, bock.

"Shaun knows he won't be able to win the slopes, that's why he pulled out. He's scared!," Canadian snowboarder Maxence Parrot reportedly tweeted. He later deleted the tweet and apologized.

White, who is chasing his third gold medal in the halfpipe event, may have a point. White fell during a practice and twisted his wrist, the LA Times reports.

Two athletes have already been injured on the harrowing slope-style course which combines obstacles such as rails and ramps. Norwegian Torstein Horgmo broke his collarbone and Finland's Marika Enne suffered a concussion during practice runs.

“Shaun is the consummate professional and has made a sound athletic decision,” said U.S. Olympic Committee spokesman Patrick Sandusky.

Olympic organizers are reportedly making modifications to the course.
