The man was arrested Saturday after police responded to a radio call for a bank robbery on Lake Shore Boulevard West.
Police say a man entered the bank, told the teller he was armed with a gun and demanded cash. The teller complied and the man left the bank and drove away in his vehicle.
He was stopped by police hours later and arrested.
Police have charged Carlos Olivera, 43, of Brampton with eight counts of robbery and disguise with intent.
The charges relate to a string of bank robberies in Toronto and one in Durham region that began on Jan. 7 of this year.
