Talented athletes every day are standing atop the podiums in Sochi as part of the Winter Olympics. However, there is only one who is now atop both a podium and her native country's pop charts.

As reported by Examiner Tina Maze of Slovenia, who tied for gold in the women's downhill skiing competition with Swiss skier Dominique Gisin, previously had a hit song with "My Way Is My Decision" in Slovenia.

The single was officially released in October 2012, topped the charts at the time and is currently at number 52 on Slovenia's iTunes chart.

"Take a look at me now cause I'm living my dream," Maze sings in the video which has her dancing, briefly dancing in her skis and packing away equipment.

In a blog post before the song first came out, she wrote: "If you’re asking why on earth am I doing these things, let me give you the answer... Because I like to live and I live my dreams! If you're not asking this – even better! :)"

(Oh, and if you're asking if they have AutoTune in Slovenia, the answer is yes.)

Now, two years later, Maze's dreams have come true after she won her country's first-ever Olympic gold. The skier tweeted a picture on Wednesday which showed her with her new best friend:

And it appears Maze will continue her music career in some capacity. The singer/skier teased lyrics for a new song in a January Facebook post written in her native tongue.
