A pregnant moose was spotted kicking a woman in Smithers, B.C. in a video that was recently posted to YouTube.
The nine-second video shows the moose standing on the side of a road as a woman walked past on Wednesday. The giant animal then follows her and attacks her with her front left hoof. The woman was not seriously injured.
The moose had previously been spotted wandering the community and residents are being warned to give it space until it gives birth, The Canadian Press reported.
The whole incident may have just been a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time, conservation officer Flint Knibbs told CBC News.
"You can see in the video that it's between a house and a vehicle, and our take on it is that the moose felt it needed to get out of there. It was being cornered, and the easiest way out happened to be over top of this individual," he said.
Moose and deer are a fact of life in Smithers and the best thing that people can do is be aware of their surroundings, Knibbs said.
The moose will not be put down, but Knibbs said he would keep an eye on the animal in future.
This isn't the first time that a moose has caused a disturbance in Smithers. Last year, an animal strolled into a Safeway and wandered through the produce section before a store manager led it out with an apple.
The moose died of heart failure after being hit with a tranquilizer.
