The Stanley Cup Visits Sochi (PHOTOS, VIDEO)

WATCH: Stanley Cup Visits Sochi

Olympians in Sochi got to hang out with the Stanley Cup on Monday and many couldn't resist taking a photo with the storied trophy when it stopped by at Canada House.

The Cup is a well-traveled piece of hardware. Each year, players from the winning NHL team get to spend a day with it. Usually this means travelling to the player's hometown, whether he is from British Columbia or Slovakia.

Here's Patrick Chan kissing the cup.

And skeleton slider Melissa Hollingsworth.

And here's Canada's Jennifer Jones rink. Note that they're not touching the Cup. Some athletes believe it's bad luck to touch the trophy before winning it. We're not sure if it extends to curling but better safe than sorry.

But it wasn't just the Canadians who got excited about the trophy. Hockey-mad Russian journalists queued up to see the trophy which is normally housed in Toronto's Hockey Hall Of Fame
