What happens when you take five of the world's most popular Instagram users and let them run free in the Alberta wilderness?
You get unbelievable photos like this:
After a similar successful campaign by the Canadian Tourism Commission last fall, Travel Alberta invited photographers from as far away as Sweden and Australia to come to Alberta for a seven-day trek through some of the province's most scenic areas.
And the timing was perfect – snow-capped mountains, curious wildlife and cooperative weather greeted the Instagrammers who visited areas like Lake Louise, Drumheller and Canmore.
Swedish photographer Christoffer Collin told Metro Calgary he had previously seen photos of Alberta's stunning scenery on Instagram but said "you can never understand the full amount of it until you’re actually here. When you are here it’s super spectacular and absolutely gorgeous.”
Photos by the Instagram group – @wisslaren, @meetjulian, @laurenepbath, @punkodelish, @davidguenther and guide @photojbartlett – can be found on their accounts, or under the #ExploreAlberta hashtag, but first check out a sample of their amazing work below.
