Girl, 15, rescued; man faces child luring charges

York Regional Police say they rescued a 15-year-old girl after stopping a vehicle driven Thursday driven by a Vaughan man who now faces charges relating to juvenile prostitution.

Just before 5 p.m. Thursday, police stopped a vehicle near Keele Street and Highway 407 for an expired validation sticker.

During the traffic stop, police discovered a 15-year-old girl in the back seat of the car who is not related to the driver.

"The investigation revealed that the accused had allegedly just lured the girl to a nearby motel and had engaged in sexual activity with her for the promise of money," says a York police press release.

Police say the two had just recently left the hotel when police stopped the car.

The victim was taken to a hospital to be assessed and was reunited with her family, according to police.

Americo Magana, 31 of Vaughan was arrested and charged with:

- Sexual Assault.

- Invitation to Sexual Touching.

- Sexual Interference.

- Luring a Child.

- Luring a Child for Prostitution.

- Obtain the Sexual Services of a Person Under 18.

- Procuring to Have Illicit Sexual Intercourse.

- Procuring to Become a Prostitute.

Police released the photo of the accused and believe there may be other victims. He appeared in court Friday and next scheduled court appearance is Monday.
