Baby Iver Benson Update: Gaining Weight, Doing Awesome

Baby Iver Update!

Iver Benson, the baby whose mother was kept on life support until he could be delivered, no longer requires an IV, according to a Facebook update.

"As of today, my little man is a hair over 3 pounds. He is 90g over his birthweight and gaining weight every day," wrote proud dad, Dylan Benson, on Saturday. "I love him more than words can explain."

This week's Facebook post included a photo of Iver wearing clothes for the first time.

Benson's unimaginable situation made international headlines earlier this month. His wife, Robyn, 32, suffered an irreparable cerebral hemorrhage in December when she was 22 weeks pregnant. She was kept on life support for six more weeks when Iver was delivered via Caesarean section. Robyn died the next day in a Victoria, B.C. hospital.

An online fundraising campaign with an initial goal of $36,000 to help Benson with bills and baby supplies has reached almost $200,000.
