Robin Thicke and his wife Paula Patton appear to be headed for divorce. But whether or not the issue was a matter of blurring marital lines, as has been rumoured, Thicke is fighting to save his marriage.
TMZ reports the singer backed out of a few concerts last week -- including one Friday (Feb. 21) in Atlanta and the following night in Orlando -- in an attempt to save his marriage. Thicke, who said the reason for nixing the shows was due to throat issues, reportedly flew to Vancouver in order to talk with Patton, who is shooting the movie "Warcraft" in the city.
Sources told the outlet Patton informed Thicke on Friday she wanted to nix the marriage following a long conversation. The couple parted later with both Thicke, 36, and Patton, 38, very upset. "We will always love each other and be best friends, however, we have mutally decided to separate at this time," a statement issued to People said yesterday. "
Thicke married Patton in 2005 and have one child, Julian, who was born in April, 2010. Thicke met Patton when he was 14.
However, the couple endured some controversy after the MTV Video Music Awards last year when Thicke appeared to be cupping the backside of New York socialite Lana Scolaro. Scolaro claimed Thicke made moves on her which Patton's representatives said was basically Scolaro "looking for attention."
Thicke made no comment on his personal situation regarding his marriage in recent days. The singer's next schedule concert is Feb. 27 in Washington, D.C. Last night he tweeted the following to "The Voice" contestant Leo Gallo who covered Thicke's "Blurred Lines" but received no positive votes from the four coaches.
