Wet snow falling across parts of Vancouver, more rain

Big fat flakes of snow began falling shortly after 12 p.m. PT at UBC, Kitsilano and parts of downtown Vancouver Tuesday.

Snow has been falling at higher elevations all day, including parts of North Vancouver, Nanaimo and sections of the eastern Fraser Valley where temperatures are a little cooler.

Rain is expected to fall for most of the rest of the week as things warm up.

CBC meteorologist Johanna Wagstaffe says a weak frontal system moving inland today will be followed by a new system overnight, bringing 10 to 15 millimetres through to tomorrow morning with another 10 to 15 millimetres forecast for Wednesday.

"This is just the start of a stormy and more typical weather pattern for the West Coast for at least the next week," said Wagstaffe.

Another storm on tap for Wednesday night will bring yet more rain through to Thursday. Friday brings a possible break, but more rain is also in the forecast for the weekend.

Wagstaffe says the silver lining to all this rain will be warmer temperatures.
