Minivan driver charged after Laval pedestrian hit and dragged

The driver of a minivan has been charged with criminal negligence causing bodily harm after a pedestrian was hit and dragged for about 60 metres.

Alain Nadeau, 50, was released after his court appearance Friday afternoon and is not allowed to drive at least until his next court appearance on May 29th.

The accident happened Thursday just after 12 p.m. in Laval near the corner of Curé-Labelle and des Oiseaux boulevards.

The  injured man, 51, suffered severe injuries but doctors no longer fear for his life.

Police say the driver hit the pedestrian, then drove the wrong way on Curé-Labelle Blvd. before turning into a gas station, where firefighters and passersby had to extricate the victim from under the vehicle.
