'Unprovoked attack' sees woman stabbed in Mississauga

Police are searching for a male suspect after they say a 53-year-old woman was stabbed in an unprovoked attack in Mississauga on Sunday morning.

The attack happened in the McLaughlin Road and Eglinton avenue West area, police say.

Shortly before 6 a.m., the man approached the woman and stabbed her in the stomach.

Police say the victim was able to make her way home, where she was able to call 911 from.

The victim was taken to a local hospital where she underwent surgery.

Police say the suspect is a 5’2” black male, who was wearing dark clothing and had his face covered.
