Three-alarm fire at roofing company sends smoke over Calgary skyline

CALGARY - A fire at a Calgary business that makes roofing products has been brought under control.

The three-alarm blaze at IKO Industries Tuesday sent large plumes of black smoke wafting over the southeast part of the city.

No one was injured.

The fire department's hazardous materials team conducted air monitoring in the area and found no air quality issues.

Some parts of the building collapsed due to the fire and crews were expected to stay on site through the night.

More than 60 employees from the affected building were evacuated, as were some in surrounding businesses.
