Allergy Symptoms: How Do I Know If I Have Seasonal Allergies?

How Do I Know If I Have Allergies?

Ahhh, spring. The time of sun, flowers and...

Oh, right. It's allergy season too. But how do I know if I'm suffering from them?

Allergies happen when a person's immune system reacts negatively to certain substances, CBC News reported.

In the spring, those substances can include pollen, ragweed, grass, trees and mould, allergist Dr. Harold Kim told Canadian Living.

They trigger symptoms such as rhinitis (stuffy and runny nose), coughing, itchy eyes and, in some cases, asthma.

Early spring symptoms are often caused by tree pollen, while grass pollen can aggravate allergies in the late spring and early summer. Weed pollen is often the culprit in the late summer and early fall, says the American Academy of Allergy Asthma and Immunology.

Alleviating allergies can mean anything from pills to an allergy shot to natural remedies like neti pots. It all depends what works best for you, and what your health care provider suggests.

Not sure if you have an allergy? Here are a few signs that you may be suffering from one, according to WebMD and Parenting.com. We recommend consulting a doctor just to be sure.
