Dog Mistaken For Bear.. But GUESS What Her Name Is

A Toronto-area taxi driver had the scare of a lifetime when he dropped off a passenger and saw a bear early Thursday.

As it turned out, he had seen "Bear," just not a bruin.

Mohammed Naim dropped Fairgreen Sod Farms owner Cam Fairty off at his farm and became stuck in the snow at the end of the driveway, The Markham Economist and Sun reported.

It was around that time when he saw the dark, furry animal and notified the York Regional Police, City News reported.

The police arrived at around 2:50 a.m. and found Naim in his cab, afraid to get out as he was worried the "bear" was close by.

Officers found what they called bear tracks surrounding the car, and arranged to have Naim pulled to safety.

It later turned out that Naim had spotted Bear, a 150-pound Newfoundland dog that lives at the farm.

Fairgreen Sod Farms later posted a photo of the dog on its Facebook page to clear any confusion:

“Customers come in (to the office) all the time and say Bear looks like a bear,” farm manager Matt Gauthier told the Economist and Sun.

“This is the first time anyone thought she was a bear and called police.”
