On the Coast picks for this weekend, March 14-16

1. St. Patrick's Day Parade, Downtown Vancouver

Head to the corner of Howe and Davie streets on Sunday for the annual celebration of all things Irish, and don't forget your shamrocks and green gear.

An estimated 200,000 people will be out on the streets to watch pipe and drums bands, Celtic musicians, dancers, and mounted horse drill teams, among many others. The parade starts at 11 a.m. and ends at Georgia and Granville streets.

And the Vancouver Cruiser Bike Club is also doing its annual St. Pat's ride, from the London Pub on Main Street, starting at noon.

More than 30 artists will bring "bohemian" to the mainland to display the best of the island. Cost of admission will go to the Save on Meats token program.

- March 14-16, Heritage Hall, Vancouver.

3. Vancouver Invitational Wheelchair Rugby Tournament, Richmond Oval

It's also known as Murderball. The Oval hosts the 15th annual event, with 11 teams from across North America. Many of the members of Canada'a national wheelchair rugby team, which won silver at the 2012 Paralympic Games, will be there. Come watch the game of skill, hard hits, and clutch plays.

- March 15 and 16, Surrey Arts Centre, Main Stage.

5. Palette: Eat, Paint, Create!

Time to unleash your inner Van Gogh or Jackson Pollock. Drink wine and nibble on olives and fancy cheese with paintbrush in hand at this Place des Arts evening event. You'll get a 20x20 canvas to paint your masterpiece at the Maillardville arts hub.
