According to North Vancouver RCMP, the jeep drove through the locked mall doors around 10:30 p.m. PT, then through the mall itself and into the security gates of the jewelry store.
The thieves then smashed several glass display cases and made off with an undetermined amount of jewelry before driving out the same the same way they drove in.
The abandoned jeep was found a short distance away. Police say they are examining it for clues and are also looking at video surveillance tape.
"This is a dangerous criminal offence with police asking for the public's assistance in identifying the culprits," said Cpl. Richard De Jong Friday in a written statement.
