The New British Coin Looks EERILY Familiar

The U.K.'s Royal Mint revealed a prototype for a new £1 coin on Tuesday.

The proposed currency will be the most "secure circulating coin in the world to date," said a news release.

The coin looks nice and all, but there's something about it.

Something ... eerily familiar.

Of course, this wouldn't be the first time that the Royal Mint has released a coin that looked so much like the Canadian toonie.

There was the 2010 £2 coin celebrating Florence Nightingale.

There was also the 2009 £2 coin that celebrated Charles Darwin's 200th birthday.
