'Bachelor Canada' Brad Smith Breaks Up Engagement, Splits From Bianka Kamber

Splitsville For First-Ever 'Bachelor Canada' Couple
Hello Canada

As happens with most couples formed on reality shows, the first-ever pairing of "The Bachelor Canada" -- Brad Smith and Bianka Kamber -- have called it quits.

On "The Bachelor Canada" finale in November 2012, Smith got down on bended knee and proposed to Kamber, who (obviously) said yes. Seems like things turned sour at some point between now and then.

After nearly two years together, the couple announced their breakup via Facebook on Wednesday morning, ending their engagement after setting a June 2014 wedding date last year.

"After almost two years together, we have realized that, although we love each other intensely, we both want different things out of life," reads the statement, signed jointly by Brad and Bianka. "We’ve given this much thought, and it is with heavy hearts that we decided to end our engagement. We want to thank The Bachelor Canada for the opportunity to have met each other. We wouldn't change a single thing about our experience.

"This was more than just a television show to us, it was real life, and real love. We want to thank you for your constant and amazing love and support and hope that you can respect our privacy during this time. Even though we are going our separate ways, we will always remain an important part of each other’s lives."

Smith is currently a correspondent for City Entertainment, and "The Bachelor Canada" is ramping up for Season 2, which is set to premiere in the fall of 2014.
