Shirley Krushen's husband set up the monthly investment payment plan 30 years ago. The Krushens believed the annuity would continue after his death.
But when her husband Brownie died last year, Canada Life Assurance Company stopped making payments to Shirley.
There were two conflicting documents regarding how long the company would continue the annuity and Canada Life's ombudsman ruled the company was correct to stop the payments.
Krushen took the matter to an independent ombudsman, and this week she found out the company had decided to reverse its decision.
"It's good that the truth is coming out finally," said Kushen after learning of the decision.
"Now I can relax. I don't have to skimp and save for my older age."
Canada Life wouldn't comment on the matter. However a spokesperson says the company does review its decisions when new information is presented.
