Blue skies for first day of spring on B.C.'s South Coast

Blue skies are greeting the first official day of spring across B.C.'s South Coast, says CBC meteorologist Johanna Wagstaffe.

At  9:57 a.m. PT,  the sun's rays crossed over the Earth's equator from the southern to the northern hemisphere, an event that happens only twice a year (in the spring and the fall).

With a moist northwesterly flow off the ocean, temperatures are a touch on the cool side today and tomorrow with afternoon highs around 9 C. A few isolated showers have been popping up in the Fraser Valley as well. so there is a slight risk of a brief shower once again tomorrow afternoon.

Saturday will be more overcast with showers, but expect a return to the sun on Sunday.
