Taps running in Newfoundland community after two weeks without water

PIGEON COVE, N.L. - The taps are running again in a small community on Newfoundland and Labrador's northern peninsula.

Pigeon Cove's new $800,000 water system has been frozen for about two weeks, causing the community to declare a state of emergency and prompting businesses to shut their doors.

Provincial Municipal Affairs Minister Steve Kent says the main line is now functioning, but some individual lines are still frozen.

The government has provided equipment to help thaw the frozen water lines.
