April Reimer, Leafs Goalie's Wife, Attacked On Twitter (TWEETS)

Leafs Fans Attack Goalie's Wife On Twitter

Toronto Maple Leafs fans upset with goalie James Reimer turned their rage against his wife on Twitter last week.

April Reimer was the focus of a number of angry tweets from fans who were unimpressed at her husband's showings in a string of losses, The Toronto Star reported.

Here are some of the tweets that were directed at her (some of the more vile ones were summarized by Jeff Veillette at The Leafs Nation).

Twitter users also fought back against April's harassers, however. A search of "@april_reimer," her Twitter account, turned up a long list of people who felt that the targeting had gone too far.

Leafs centre Tyler Bozak also came to her defense, telling The Toronto Sun's Terry Koshan: "It’s kind of sad that some people, I heard, I don’t know, sending tweets toward his wife or him or whatever and stuff like that. I think that is pretty low and pretty sad."

April even responded to the tweets herself.

Below, James and April are pictured together at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor, Mich., which hosted the Winter Classic game between the Leafs and the Detroit Red Wings on New Year's Day.
