The thought-provoking work of renowned artist and activist Ai Weiwei is headed for Vancouver.

Weiwei's art is coming to town as part of the 2014-2016 Vancouver Biennale, which started this month.

The Chinese artist has become famous for his strong political views, which are expressed through both his art and Twitter account.

Other artists to be featured in the 18-month program include Vik Muniz, Jonathan Borofsky, Lawrence Paul Yuxweluptun, Andy Goldsworthy, and Os Gemeos.

Weiwei's work will be displayed in a Vancouver park that has not been identified yet, according to the Georgia Straight.

The Vancouver Biennale is responsible for bringing Yue Minjun's now-famous A-mazing Laughter scuplture to the city. The statues remained in Vancouver following the event thanks to a $1.5 million donation by Lululemon founder Chip Wilson.

More information on Weiwei's Vancouver Biennale piece will be released in coming months.
