Long stretch of Vancouver sunshine starts Wednesday

Vancouver is in for a long stretch of sunshine, just as soon as it gets through some lingering clouds and gusty winds this evening, says CBC meteorologist Johanna Wagstaffe.

A cold front moved through Vancouver today, bringing around five millimetres of light rain to the region.

The South Coast will see brisk westerly winds this evening as the cold front continues to move eastward and skies begin to clear.

After tonight, a high pressure system builds in place for mainly sunny skies right through to early next week.

Temperatures will stick around the seasonal 12 C for afternoon highs, but look for a big warm-up this weekend.

The only blip in the otherwise sunny forecast is a weak system for Thursday evening into Friday morning that may bring some more cloud cover and a risk of some showers.
