TERRACE, B.C. - Mystery surrounds a remarkable act of bravery near Terrace, B.C.
Terrace RCMP Const. Angela Rabut says Mounties are trying to find the man who threw himself into the path of some falling trees in order to shield a young girl.
Rabut says the man was slightly hurt in the incident, which occurred during a sudden windstorm over the northwestern B.C. city on Monday, but she says there was potential for tragedy.
The trees came down moments after the girl stepped off a school bus in a rural area of Terrace, and the tumbling limbs also snapped hydro wires just as the man leaped to shield the child with his body.
Rabut says fortunately the lines were dead when they hit the ground or the man could have been severely injured, and she calls it an unbelievable act of bravery.
The girl is fine and no one else was involved, but Rabut says the RCMP want to find the Good Samaritan so he can be officially recognized for his actions. (CFTK)
