Jim Flaherty Honoured With Green-Lit CN Tower (TWEETS)

'For Jim'

The CN Tower lit up in green on Friday to honour Jim Flaherty, the long-serving former finance minister who died this week.

The MP for Whitby—Oshawa was known for wearing green ties that gave a nod to his Irish heritage.

There were also plans to light up Toronto city hall.

The tower go green again on Wednesday, when a state funeral is held for Flaherty, much as it did for late NDP leader Jack Layton in 2011.

But those weren't the only landmarks to pay tribute to Flaherty. The Canadian flag flew at half-mast over Parliament Hill on Friday morning.

Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird also asked that flags be flown at half-mast at all of Canada's missions abroad. Here the flag flies at the Canadian Embassy in Washington, D.C.

And yesterday, NASDAQ paid tribute to Flaherty in New York's Times Square.
