Kate Middleton ditched her signature skinny jeans and wedges and opted for a more demure look on Saturday as the royal couple kicked off day six of their tour through New Zealand and Australia.

Wearing a bright grass-green Erdem wool-crepe coat and black suede Episode pumps, the Duchess of Cambridge arrived in Hamilton, New Zealand to a cheering crowd of 100 at the airport with her husband by her side. The two then greeted dignitaries and proceeded to make their way to Cambridge, a nearby town, to lay flowers and pay their respects at a war memorial.

Cambridge Police estimate approximately 15,000 people turned out to gain a glimpse of the pair – a significant number considering the population of the town is around 18,000.

With no Prince George in sight, the royal couple briefly split up for part of the day: William visited an aircraft factory in Waikato and Kate attended a Mad Hatter’s tea party at Rainbow Place, a hospice for children.

The pair eventually reunited, this time to open a new athletic stadium and for a meet-and-greet with some of the country’s Olympians.

Unlike the relatively dry weather during the couple’s exciting yacht race the day before, the duo were welcomed with showers as they left the stadium. But since when has a little rain stopped a royal walkabout?

The Duke and Duchess continued to make their way down a line of well wishers, with Prince William holding an umbrella over his wife to help keep her dry.
