Highrise fire sends 2 people to hospital

A man and a woman in their 60s have been transported to hospital after a 2-alarm highrise fire in northwest Toronto late Friday morning.

Toronto Fire received a call just before 11:45 a.m. about a residential fire at 121 Humber Blvd, near Weston Road and Eglinton Avenue West.

The injured man was taken to hospital with serious burns but was conscious and breathing, Toronto EMS said.

The was also transported with minor burns and smoke inhalation. 

It's unclear whether the two people lived in the same residence.

A total of 12 trucks and 45 firefighters responded to the blaze. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

EMS says they transported a second patient as well. A woman in her 60s was transported with minor burns and smoke inhalation.
