At Canyon Meadows Cinema, the lights are turned up, the sound is turned down and audience members are allowed to roam freely and make noise. For many, those changes make a big difference.
"The first time we did it, I got nothing but hugs and tearful moms who were just so grateful they could come into an environment and not have to worry about the general public, upsetting customers," said Nathalie Hunter, general manager of the theatre. "It's just super relaxed so they were just really grateful."
This weekend saw the fourth autism-friendly screening at the theatre.
Hunter says the popular event will continue.
