Alain Gascon to face 1st-degree murder charge for Aylmer death

Gatineau police will charge a 49-year-old man with first-degree murder after a woman was killed over the long weekend.

Court documents show Alain Gascon of Quyon, Que. is scheduled to be in a Gatineau courthouse Tuesday morning to face the charge.

Police allege Gascon caused the death of 42-year-old Angela Distasio on Monday, when she died of injuries in hospital.

Distasio had been found badly injured at 45 Symmes Street Sunday night. An autopsy is set for Tuesday in Montreal.

Gatineau police had said Gascon was a person of interest in her death and held him in custody. His Toyota Corolla had also been towed from the scene.

Distasio's death would be Gatineau's third homicide of 2014.
