LETHBRIDGE, Alta. - A 51-year-old Alberta man has been sentenced to nine years in jail for sexually assaulting two young boys.
Jorden VanVoorthuizen, of Taber, was arrested four years ago in Greece and was brought back to face the charges.
He was found guilty last fall of assaulting the boys who were in his care numerous times between 1995 and 2001.
During the sentencing hearing, VanVoorthuizen addressed the court and claimed he was a scapegoat for his ex-wife and the victims.
The judge said VanVoorthuizen has shown no remorse and hasn't taken any responsibility for the harm he's done to the victims.
VanVoorthuizen is also banned from having contact with anyone under the age of 16 for the next 10 years.
