Newfoundland's largest health board appoints interim president and CEO

ST. JOHN'S, N.L. - Newfoundland and Labrador's largest health board has appointed a former deputy minister as its interim president and CEO.

Eastern Health says Don Keats will take over the position on May 5.

Keats is a former deputy minister of health and community services, has served as CEO of three former health care organizations in the province and has worked in various capacities in the health sector in Nova Scotia and Ontario.

He takes over for Vickie Kaminski, who is leaving to become CEO of Alberta Health Services.

Her last day at Eastern Health is May 9.

Eastern Health says Keats will remain as interim president until a new appointment is made, likely within four months.
