Manitoba Tories promise wide public consultation to develop policy, platform

WINNIPEG - Manitoba's official Opposition is promising to consult people across the province in developing party policies.

The Progressive Conservatives have released a discussion paper focusing on six areas, including the economy, health care and resource development.

Tory Leader Brian Pallister says public hearings are to be held through the spring, summer and fall this year to gather public input.

He says the aim is to have the most-inclusive policy development in the history of Manitoba politics.

The Tories also say they will have a website up soon so that people can submit ideas online.

Pallister, who took over the party helm in 2012, has long said he wants to increase public participation as the Tories prepare for the next election expected in 2016.
