Renowned deaf percussionist takes stage with Winnipeg orchestra

There's only a few rehearsals left before renowned deaf percussionist Dame Evelyn Glennie takes one of the world's biggest stages with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra.

“Everybody can hear,” said Glennie.”Imagine the body being a resonating chamber: the body will vibrate, so if you choose to listen, you will hear.”

Glennie and the WSO are getting some rehearsal time in before travelling to New York, where they’ll be performing at Carnegie Hall's Spring for Music on May 8.

Before they head to the big apple, Glennie and the WSO will first grace Winnipeggers with a performance.

Catch Glennie’s collaboration with the WSO this weekend to see what the deaf community can add to the arts here in Winnipeg.

Glennie last collaborated with the WSO at the New Music Festival in 2013.
