Brian Butler, the president of the local United Steelworkers union chapter says employees at the Western Forest Products sawmill in Nanaimo will be returning to work in what he calls a soft start.
Butler says that means workers who are not ready to get back on the job will not be forced to do so.
He says there will be meetings involving counsellors and that Western Forest Products is working to establish a security presence at its sites.
Funeral services for Michael Lunn and Fred McEachern, the two men killed in the shooting, will be held on May 10 in separate ceremonies.
The suspect, 47-year-old Kevin Douglas Addison is a former employee and has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted murder in connection with the shooting.
