Dauphin Kings remain undefeated at RBC Cup with 5-2 win over Vernon Vipers

VERNON, B.C. - Michael Stiliadis stopped 29 shots as the Dauphin Kings toppled the Vernon Vipers 5-2 on Tuesday to remain undefeated in RBC Cup preliminary round play.

Jared Morris, Tyler Garrioch, Brayden Cuthbert and Brett Hope gave the Kings (3-0-0) a 4-0 lead after 40 minutes of play and Brent Wold added another goal in the third period.

Colton Sparrow and Ryan Renz scored in the third for the Vipers (1-2-0).

Austin Smith started in net for Vernon but allowed two goals on five shots and was on the bench to start the second period. Danny Todosychuk kicked out 13-of-16 shots in relief.

Dauphin went 0 for 7 on the power play while the Vipers went 1 for 9.

Earlier in preliminary action, Brett D'Andrea scored once and set up two more as the Carleton Place Canadians doubled up the Toronto Lakeshore Patriots 4-2.

Luke Edwards added a goal and an assist for the Canadians (2-1-0) while Anthony Latina and Vinny Post each scored once.

Andreas Tsogkas and Marcus Rose supplied the scoring for the Patriots (1-2-0).

Guillaume Therien made 24 saves for Carleton Place as Toronto's Evan Buitenhuis turned away 29-of-33 shots in defeat.

The Canadians went 1 for 4 on the power play while the Patriots scored once on two chances with the man advantage.

Preliminary play continues on Wednesday with Carleton Place taking on the Yorkton Terriers (0-2-0).
