Milton Reyes-Moraga was found by police suffering from multiple stab wounds around 9 p.m. PT after a fight in a basement suite at 9362 - 132 Street. He was rushed to hospital but could not be saved.
A 29-year-old co-worker of Reyes-Moraga was taken into custody following the stabbing but has since been released and no charges have been laid.
Integrated Homicide Investigation Team Sgt. Adam MacIntosh says neither man was known to police and the stabbing is not linked to gangs, criminal activity or a domestic incident.
He says an investigation is continuing and urged anyone with information to contact police.
The homicide is the second this week in Surrey. Barry McQuarrie, 33, is wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of Gregory Quesnelle, originally from southern Ontario, in the Cloverdale neighbourhood on Monday.
