What's on in Toronto Victoria Day weekend

Rock.Paper.Sistahz Festival has been the springboard for numerous award-winning new works over the past 12 years. The festivals takes to the stage again this weekend, featuring old voices and new. And that's just one of the events to check out this weekend:

Rock.Paper.Sistahz Festival

May 17 - May 18 Aki Studio Theatre/Ada Slaight Hall

rock.paper.sistahz' first marathon of theatre features trey anthony's Black Mothers Don't Say I Love You, Ngozi Paul's The 1st Time Project and Catherine Hernandez' I Cannot Lie to the Stars that Made Me among other performances. There's also a late night dance party with DJ L'Oqenz, pancake breakfast with b current Artistic Directors, and storytelling for children with Lillian Allen.

Wee Festival

May 12 - May 19 Various Locations

Whether it is a stimulating journey through colours and the senses performed for babies and toddlers (In Black & White, a Yellow Line - Teatro do Biombo, Portugal) or a playful procrastination for toddlers Bedtime - Katarsis Theatre and Education, Spain), each show has been created with the emotional and social developmental needs and interests of young children. Other featured productions for under 5's include H2O, a breathtaking performance installation from Germany's Helios Theatre. Many shows are sold out.

Toronto International Circus Festival

May 17 - May 19 Harbourfront Centre

Experience the magic of the circus this Victoria Day weekend. Discover acrobats and jugglers, comedians and clowns. Take a turn at tumbling and tour the site aboard the HarbourKIDS Express. This weekend is all about you, so bring your sense of adventure!

Superfan ComicCon

May 17 to May 19 Better Living Centre

Lois Lane! The Hulk (the original one)! Need we say more?! also everything from comic retailers to anime vendors, local and international artists, memorabilia, toys, collectibles, crafts, movies, apparel, video games, kids toys, and so much more! This friends and family event will feature a huge Cosplay gathering with hundreds of true fans dressed as their favourite characters.

2014 Canadian Sport Film Festival

May 16 - May 18 TIFF Bell LightBox

This festival brings together the theatre of sport and the medium of film to tell unique, provocative and passionate human stories from around the world. CSFF filmgoers are exposed to the stories beyond the scoreboard, behind the camera and told with a critical lens.

- Ashbridges Bay Park on Lake Shore Boulevard East will have Victoria Day fireworks starting at 10 p.m. Monday. The TTC will have increased service between Queen Street East and the Bloor-Danforth line on several bus routes. The park will close at 10 a.m. Monday morning and will remain closed throughout the day for set-up.

- Canada’s Wonderland at 9850 Jane St. in Vaughan will have fireworks at 10 p.m. The show is included with admission.
