Police were called to a tax filing assistance firm whose manager was suspicious of a man who filed a return on Feb. 20.
RCMP say the man produced a T4 slip and an Indian Status Card to prove what's believed to be a false identity.
The man was also able to provide a matching birth date and Social Insurance Number to complete the task.
Investigators say the man whose information was used in the tax filing lives in Saskatchewan, and he never received his refund nor did he visit British Columbia.
Police did not specify where the man lives in Saskatchewan.
Langley RCMP have released a possible photo of the man suspected of impersonating the Saskatchewan man for the tax return. They're asking anyone with more information to contact police.
