Pamela Anderson Rape Claims Followed Up By RCMP

RCMP in British Columbia say they're "reaching out" to actress Pamela Anderson after she revealed she experienced several sexual attacks during her childhood.

"Given the nature of the allegations, an investigator with the Ladysmith RCMP is in the process of reaching out to Ms. Anderson to discuss this matter with her directly," RCMP Cpl. Darren Lagan told The Huffington Post B.C. in an email Wednesday.

The former "Baywatch" star, who grew up in Ladysmith, made the revelations during the launch of her animal welfare foundation in Cannes, France on Saturday.

"I did not have an easy childhood," she said in a speech that has been posted to The Pamela Anderson Foundation's website. "Despite loving parents, I was molested from age six to 10 by my female babysitter."

When she was 12, Anderson said she was at a friend's boyfriend's house when she was attacked. "The boyfriend's older brother decided he would teach me backgammon which led into a back massage which led into rape."

Then in Grade 9, her first boyfriend "decided it would be funny to gang rape me with six of his friends," Anderson alleged.

Lagan said there is no statute of limitation on sexual assault cases. "A victim can report the events to the police force of jurisdiction where the offenses occurred, and an investigation will commence," he explained.

He added: "Given the sensitive nature of these allegations, and out of respect for Ms. Anderson's privacy, we will provide no further comment at this time."

Now 46, Anderson explained that while the incidents left her feeling like she "wanted off this Earth," her affinity with animals "saved" her.

In tweeting a link to her speech, the animal rights activist wrote: " I want people to know - they can overcome and prosper with love."
