Iqaluit Dump Fire Gets Its Own Twitter Account

Dump Fire Gets Its Own Twitter Account

An Iqaluit dump fire that has been the butt of jokes since last week can now stand up for itself.

The flaming dump, dubbed a #dumpcano after Iqaluit's fire chief compared it to a "volcano," now has its own Twitter account.

The fire has been burning deep within the dump for months but flared up on Monday. The city's council decided to let it keep burning rather than extinguish it over concerns about the kind of runoff that could leak into nearby Frobisher Bay.

It seems like the fire won't be going away any time soon, so it can continue to make fun of itself.
