Unless you turned off all digital devices this past weekend, you're well aware Kim Kardashian and Kanye West tied the knot in Florence, Italy. But it turns out the RSVPs may have been short a few people, including the Duchess of Cambridge.
According to a report by celebrity gossip website Celebrity Laundry, Kim invited Kate Middleton to her nuptials, hoping the Duchess would make time for her big day. Based on pictures coming out of the wedding, it does appear the Duchess said yes.
Although the guest list wasn't public, celebrities like Jaden Smith, rapper Common, designer Rachel Roy and singers John Legend and Andrea Bocelli (who were also performers) all attended the ceremony. No-shows that day included Kim's brother Rob Kardashian (who was supposedly avoiding family photos because of his recent weight gain) and Kim's stepbrother and reality star Brody Jenner. Most notably, Beyonce and Jay Z — who tabloids claimed would be Kanye's best man — also skipped the wedding, according to the Sydney Morning Herald.
But even without the presence of the royals, Kim did have a touch of Kate with her on her big day. Fashion-lovers on Twitter were quick to point out Kim's Givenchy wedding gown was similar to Kate Middleton's wedding dress in 2011. Kim's aunt Karen also told the U.K.'s Mirror that Kim was trying to emulate the royal wedding because she wanted something traditional and classy.
Now whether Kate was invited or not, it's not that surprising she didn't have time to attend the event. We know Kim and Kate aren't in the same circles (though Kate did once say she liked watching "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" when she was pregnant), so the chances of one attending the other's wedding isn't all that likely. Earlier in May, Prince William and Harry did make time to attend a friend's wedding in Memphis and the royal trio, including Catherine, attending another close friend's wedding in Marshfield, Gloucestershire in March, reports Hello! Canada.
And with Kate's recent track record of not showing up to events, fingers are also pointing towards a second pregnancy. But as Celebrity Laundry notes, if Kate couldn't make a charity dinner hosted by Ralph Lauren, "how on earth would Kim think that there was even the slightest chance of Kate attending her wedding?"
