Slocan Lake Canoe Accident Victims' Bodies Recovered

NEW DENVER, B.C. - Police in southeast B.C. say the bodies of three missing canoeists may have been found in a local lake.

RCMP Sgt. Darryl Little says underwater recovery specialists believe the bodies of 15-year-old Jule Wiltshire-Padfield, 19-year-old Skye Donnet and 21-year-old Hayden Kyle are located in about 150 metres of water in Slocan Lake.

He says they were found farther from shore than originally thought, and police are calling in additional recovery equipment from the Lower Mainland.

Little says the RCMP's dive team will assist the recovery efforts, which are expected to take place Wednesday.

Nineteen-year-old Lily Harmer-Taylor was found in the half-submerged canoe a short time after the May 10 accident but could not be revived.

Little says the underwater recovery specialists were hired by some of the families after police suspended the search May 20.
