Firm to study St. John's snow removal after nasty winter leads to complaints

ST. JOHN'S, N.L. - Newfoundland and Labrador's capital city has chosen a firm to review its snow removal services after a number of residents complained about the municipality's efforts this past winter.

KPMG will conduct the $149,000 review of equipment, staff, routes and snow dumping sites in St. John's.

Funding for the study will come from a reserve fund in the city's snow removal budget.

Coun. Art Puddister is expressing concern that the review may not be completed until the fall.

A protest was held last month outside city hall by residents fed up with what they said was a lack of snow removal during a particularly nasty winter.
