The Toronto Blue Jays are on fire lately. With seven straight wins and the top spot in the AL East, fans in the city (and across Canada) have a lot to get excited about.
Any baseball lover knows there are a few things that go hand-in-hand with going to a major league baseball game. Food can be terribly expensive (and unhealthy), fans can get rowdy, and a grand slam by the home team can feel like you personally hit it out of the park.
For those of you who have been attending Jays games your whole life, this will be nothing new. For those of you who just jumped on the winning bandwagon, well, prepare yourself.
Here are 23 signs you're at a Toronto Blue Jays game. Did we miss any? Let us know in the comments below:
On a sunny day, the
Rogers Centre SkyDome opens up and the world is a beautiful place
It takes about 20-30 minutes, but every single second is epic.
The game day selfies. There are a lot of them
See what we mean...
You love our adorable (and sometimes clumsy) mascot
If you haven't given this big blue jay a hug, you're missing out.
He also has a great sense of humour
When you walk up to the 500 levels, you feel like you're going to fall over
Why is my seat SO far away?
Pretending you can actually afford expensive booze
When beer costs $15 and a hot dog costs $8, it doesn't matter, you're rich.
That moment when you think you're going to catch a ball
Hey, even the players know what we're talking about
YOU LOVE BJs
Loud, loud, fans who are probably intoxicated
And um, do things like this.
All the dancing that goes on
Both on the field and in the stadium
Someone in your section always wants to pick a fight
You can watch a baseball game from your hotel room window
All the attractive baseball players
And fans too, let's be real.
You see old men with their radios
And writing down the stats!
Freaking cute kids everywhere
And on the Jumbotron
The rows and rows of blue
You know these moves
It's the only time you feel comfortable littering
Knowing that tickets AREN'T that expensive
Well, compared to the Maple Leafs, anyways. Also, you can find great deals online or at the box office right before the game.
Before you walk in, you know you basically can't bring in anything
Leave your life at home.
[EDITORS' NOTE: Actually you can bring food into the Rogers Centre. So load up on snacks and save your money for $12 beer instead]
That joy you get looking up at the winning banners
World Series championships in 1992 AND 1993.
Knowing you have to wait a long time to use the washroom
And going between innings never works.
The best part of the game? The wave
You don't take any win for granted
