Montreal officer to be disciplined after controversial photo circulates

Montreal police are investigating after a controversial photo appears to show a male officer in a compromising position with a young woman in a police car.

The picture, which began circulating on social media, shows the officer sitting in the driver’s seat with a woman sitting on his lap.

“I was laughing, I thought it was a joke,” said Leila Saad, who saw the officer and snapped some pictures on her cell phone.

“The light was open and they were sitting together, and they were moving up and down.”

The pictures were posted and circulated on Twitter and Facebook.

Montreal police said when they found out about the picture, they too thought it was a joke, or that the photo was doctored, but soon realized it was an actual Montreal police car.

“We knew right away, within an hour, we knew who it was,” said Lafrenière, adding that the officer will face disciplinary action — maybe even a suspension.

“The basic rule is common sense. For us, we are talking about inappropriate acts. The young woman was on the officer in a police cruiser. For us, that is completely unacceptable, and that is why there will be disciplinary measures.”

Anie Samson is the executive committee member in charge of public security in Montreal. She said she will not comment until police issue a report on the matter.

Police are asking any witnesses of the alleged incident to contact them.
