Two men in their 30s are in hospital in critical condition after a shooting in the north end of Montreal.

Police say several shots were fired at about 7 p.m. ET Thursday at a park in a residential neighbourhood near the corner of Pie-IX Boulevard and the 54th Street.

Two men suffered gunshot wounds and were transported to hospital.

Police say they're not sure what led to the incident.

Officers closed off a large perimeter around Parc de Sienne to investigate and speak to several witnesses.
