It's the fourth time in six years that a B.C. beer has won the honour, marking the climax of a successful night that saw the province's brewers taking home gold medals in nine out of 38 categories.
Sasquatch Stout, which also took topped the stout category, is described as "black and robust with a lot of body, just like the animal itself" on Old Yale's website.
Other B.C. winners at the Fredericton weekend event included Parallel 49 Brewing's Old Boy in the brown ale category; Yaletown Brewing Co.'s Oud Bruin for wood and barrel-aged sour beer; and Cannery Brewing Co.'s Maple Stout for best special honey/maple lager or ale.
Judges sorted through 900 submissions from more than 140 breweries, said the awards' website.
