Cardinals turn triple play on Blue Jays after Bautista lines out to second base

TORONTO - Toronto Blue Jays right-fielder Jose Bautista lined into a triple play in the sixth inning of Friday's game against the St. Louis Cardinals at Rogers Centre.

The Blue Jays were leading 2-1 when they loaded the bases on singles by Anthony Gose and Jose Reyes. An error by Cardinals third baseman Matt Carpenter on Melky Cabrera's grounder put the Jays outfielder on first.

Bautista lined out to second baseman Daniel Descalso who threw to shortstop Jhonny Peralta who stepped on second to retired Reyes. Peralta threw to first baseman Allen Craig to get the out at first before Cabrera could get back on base.

It was the seventh triple play by a Blue Jays opponent. The previous came May 12, 2008, in the second game of a double header at Cleveland.
